Memories

I spent most of my craft time this weekend helping a friend put together a few layouts for a Memory Album she's creating for her son who passed away recently. She is extremely talented at cross-stitching, but has never done paper crafting of any kind. I'm still relatively new at scrapbooking also, but I think we came up with a few nice pages. This is a sympathy card I had done for her because he loved fishing so much...I'm a little disappointed in how the picture turned out, the card really looked so much better, not so faded looking, hard to see the colors... background is Mellow Moss, a strip of black with hemp twine and the sentiment matted with Not Quite Navy.

Getting Old

This is a card I threw together quickly for a last minute birthday get together we attended today - found out about it last night about 10:30. I've wanted to try out this set from Skipping Stones Design...I love it, it has some really cute sayings...maybe I just think it is so funny because it fits me so well!

Someone Like You

FCCB - The Bling Challenge
Cartridge: Home Decor, Storybook

I bought the Home Decor cartridge specifically for these Swirls but haven't had a chance to even use that feature yet on a project till now. I love the Swirls but they seemed a little feminine for the LO for my boys. I made this for another challenge, but thought the gem added some bling.

Thanks So Much

This was my take on the February card swap sketch challenge for our stamp group.
Stamps: SU Pocket Silhouettes, Mostly Flowers
Paper: SU Black, River Rock, Always Artichoke, Groovy Guava, Graphic 45 DSP
Ink: Black, Mellow Moss, Always Artichoke, Groovy Guava
Misc: Oval Punch, Scallop Oval Punch, Mat Pack Paper Piercing
This month our stamp group had a 'Card Candy' card swap. The theme was 'Green'.

SSD016-Margarita Birthday

My brother's birthday is tomorrow, I hope he gets his card on time...he'll get a kick out of this set, he's quite the 'party animal'!

Life Is Good - Man Challenge

Just Buggin' Challenge #29
Cartridge: Jasmine (Oval and Shadow Oval)
Stamp: Stampin' Up Angler, Text and Texture

OK, so I couldn't decide whether to make a card or a scrapbook page so I did both! When I think of a manly card I first think of fishing for my hubby...but none of my boys like to fish, or my brothers...so I need to take some time to try out a few different manly birthday card ideas floating around in my head! This card started out as a SPCC color challenge combined with the Just Buggin' Challenge...then I got busy working on my card swap challenge for my stamp group next Friday and didn't even enter it for the challenge!

Life Is Good-Depot Bay

Just Buggin' Challenge #29 - the man challenge
Cartridge: A Child's Year, Calligraphy
Stamp: Stampin' Up Text and Texture

...and here's the scrapbook page! My husband Dan loves to fish-in fact when I thought of making a layout about fishing I wanted an appropriate title and asked him if he considered fishing his 'Passion' or his 'Obsession'...he said it was his 'Addiction'. These photos look so serene it really brought to mind how much we enjoyed our relaxing vacation last year in Depot Bay so I scrapped that and I thought 'Life is Good'...so that's how it came about!

Wearin' o' the Green

Just Buggin' Challenge #28 - St. Patrick's Day
Cartridges: Calligraphy, A Child's Year, Home Decor

I liked the top picture of my youngest, Jake, and I thought with the green background I might be able to use it for this challenge. All three of my boys would hide their 'green' on St. Patrick's Day (I guess it wasn't 'cool' to wear it outwardly) but Jake found these cute boxers that said No Pinching No Pinching No Pinching...anyhow, I thought I would look on the web to find something about wearing green on St. Patrick's Day and immediately saw the lyrics to this song about how England had forbidden the 'Wearin' o' the Green', so, perfect - he's hiding his green! I don't think you can see the Musical Score stamp in the background of the lyrics.

"O Paddy dear, and did ye hear the news that's goin' round? The shamrock is by law forbid to grow on Irish ground! No more Saint Patrick's Day we'll keep, his color can't be seen. For there's a cruel law ag'in the Wearin' o' the Green."

Happy St. Patrick's Day and thanks for looking!

Pocket Birthday

SPCC #37 - Brilliant Blue, Pumpkin Pie, Night of Navy, So Saffron
Stamps: Pocket Silhouettes, Birthday Whimsy-Stampin Up
Punch: Modern Label, Scallop Trim Border - Stampin Up

This started out as a card for my father-in-law but ended up looking a little too feminine so I decided to save it for someone else. I do like the color combo though ~

Baby Shower

Just Buggin' Challenge #27
Creative Cards - Use the Card Feature from a cartridge
Cartridge Used: A Child's Year

I'm so glad I decided to get this cartridge, it was perfect for this challenge. There are so many cute cards to choose from! I love the scalloped edge and the detailed cutouts. I was very relieved to find that my little Cricut was able to cut the card to the perfect 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 size.
